Why Nature, Movement, & Mindfulness:
Therapy doesn't always have to happen on a couch or in a chair.
Many people feel more open, grounded, and emotionally regulated when they’re moving—especially outside. That’s why I offer the option for walk-and-talk sessions, or somatic-based movement therapy in natural settings around Salt Lake County.
Whether you’re walking a trail, standing under trees, or simply sitting outside in quiet reflection, nature has a way of softening the noise, helping you reconnect with your body, and making hard things easier to say.
Backed by Research:
Movement and nature aren’t just hobbies or interests—they’re evidence-based supports for mental health.
Nature exposure reduces stress, lowers cortisol, and boosts mood
Bilateral movement (like walking or running) helps with emotional processing and nervous system regulation
Time outdoors improves cognitive function, creativity, and emotional resilience
Sunlight + fresh air support better sleep, energy, and vitamin D levels—especially important for depression & anxiety
This is especially helpful for those dealing with:
Anxiety & burnout
Trauma or emotional overwhelm
Feeling “stuck” in talk therapy
Difficulty expressing or accessing emotions
A Different Kind of Therapy:
Outdoor or movement-based sessions are:
Great for folks who feel more connected while moving
Supportive of body awareness and mind-body integration
Often more, but not exclusively, comfortable for men, teens, or anyone who finds sitting face-to-face a little intense.
You don’t have to be athletic or outdoorsy. This work is gentle, attuned, and adapted to your needs.
Early morning sessions (as early as 6am) are often the best time for walk-and-talks. The world is quiet, the light is soft, and your nervous system is more open to grounding. These sessions are available on trails throughout Salt Lake County.
